Christopher Bishop

Chief Reinvention Officer, Improvising Careers

Christopher Bishop is a futurist, writer and speaker who is excited about the myriad ways emerging technologies will positively impact business and culture. He is especially excited about the power of AI to help humans address problems once considered the realm of science fiction.

Chris first became fascinated by artificial intelligence while working with Deep Blue soon after he joined IBM’s Corporate Internet Programs organization in 1998. Fast forward to 2011 – he was providing executive communications support to the Vice President of the IBM Foundation when Watson beat the two reigning Jeopardy Grand Champions. It has become clear to him that AI is an enabling layer that will impact every organization – public sector, private companies, regardless of vertical or geographic location.

As a member of the World Future Society, he runs workshops on “How to Succeed at Jobs That Don’t Exist Yet” – all of which will be exploiting AI in some way. In addition, Chris is on the Board of TEDxTimesSquare and gave a talk on “Openness” at the New York City event in April 2013. Recently, he was invited to join the Rutgers Design Thinking Advisory Council and is also a Board Member of “Teach the Future”, a non-profit focused on creating curriculum around foresight and scenario planning.
